Customs Conduct awareness activities in Kokopo
The Papua New Guinea Customs Service were among several organisations that also included universities, colleges and private companies that conducted awareness and career advising activities at the Kokopo Secondary School in the East New Britain Province this week.
The activities are part of a two-day expo themed "believe in yourself, choose wisely" that started on Monday and ended yesterday, where hundreds of students from various schools in Kokopo passed through to receive information from the various organisations represented there.
Acting Commissioner Ray Paul said this initiative is part of the Customs community protection responsibility, in this case, advising school students to be conscious of the important functions of Customs, their roles and responsibilities as citizens of this country and what products and activities are harmful or pose a threat to the community.
"That awareness was carried out by our Islands Region officers based in Kokopo as well as officers from the headquarters in Port Moresby", the Acting Commissioner said.
That awareness is also part of Customs Islands Region's overall awareness drive because other officers were also in the Manus province at the same conducting awareness for schools and the public.
The next centres will be Lihir, Kavieng, Bougainville and other centres.
