The PNG Customs Service (PNGCS) wish to advise the general public that some unknown person/s have been using Chief Commissioner David Towe's name to solicit funds from unsuspecting tax payers. The Chief Commissioner appealed to people who may have information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the imposter to immediately contact Customs.
The PNGCS wish to confirm that the Chief Commissioner has received several enquiries and calls from people trying to verify if he had authorized the imposter to act on his behalf.
“It has come to our attention that some person/s have been illegally using my name to solicit funds from members of the public,” the Chief Commissioner stated. “I want to make it clear that these activities are fraudulent, unauthorized and illegal.”
“If you receive any requests for funds or witness such actions claiming to be made on my behalf, please notify Customs immediately,” he added.
“I urge anyone with information or anyone who has encountered these solicitations to contact our Internal Affairs Director Mr. Louis Aufa on phone 3127625 or email aufal@customs.gov.pg.”
“We seek the public's cooperation in assisting the PNGCS to bring the perpetrator to justice.”
